FAQ

Questions before your first visit? Wondering more about how our boarding works? Check below for some of our frequently asked questions. If we haven't covered everything, please reach out to us via phone, email or our Contact page.

Do you require any sort of temperament testing?

We don't require a temperament test, per se, but we do require meet & greets for all potential clients. We want you to be comfortable leaving your dog here, and we want them to be comfortable with us! We do require a paid trial night of boarding for any stays 7+ days in length, and we may request a trial night for other instances, at our discretion.

What does boarding at The Bone & Breakfast look like?

We're homestyle boarding, so your dog hangs out with us during the day. They interact with our cat, dogs, and our children as well (always supervised). We have a large, fenced yard for bathroom breaks and playtime. They'll eat & sleep separately from our dogs and other guests. If we have to leave during the day while your pup is boarding, they'll either be crated or left in our "dog room" which is a climate-controlled sunroom just for the pups.

We're also all about enrichment, so we love to use different toys, games and treats to keep things interesting for your dog while they're with us.

What vaccines do you require?

We ask for proof of up to date Distemper/Parvo and Rabies. These are standard required vaccines. If you have a dog too young or too old to receive any of these vaccines, please reach out to us. We also accept titers in lieu of current vaccinations. For your pup's safety and comfort, we strongly recommend flea, tick & heartworm prevention as well.

Can I board multiple dogs with you?

Yes! We're settled into our new home and have space for 1-3 dogs to stay with us.

Do you accept intact dogs?

We accept all intact dogs under 1 year of age. We accept all females over a year, and intact males after evaluating them at a meet & greet.

My dog is in heat, can she board with you?

Yes. Because our personal dogs are all spayed and neutered, this is not an issue. We will not be able to offer daily walks during her stay for her safety and wellbeing. There may be an extra fee applied to her stay for management & cleaning.

My dog has a special diet, can you accommodate that?

Of course! From kibble to raw, and everything in-between. Just give us your feeding instructions, and we'll feed your dog just like you do at home.

Do you administer medications?

Yes! Free of charge, we can give your dog their medications. If there is a certain way to get them to take medication easily (special treats, in their food, etc.) just let us know so there is no interruption in their routine.

We do have some experience administering injected medications, and depending on your dog's temperament, we can discuss this kind of medication.
