In June 2024, we had to say goodbye to our personal dog Rocket, after 14 wonderful years. Even as a puppy, he was a very stoic dog, but absolutely loved Will. He tolerated the many furry siblings we introduced to him throughout his life. He spent his younger years in Georgia, and flew to Wyoming to live with Will once he had settled in there. Despite being "not a cat dog", he fell in love with Hailey's cats when he met them, and ended up being very much a "cat" dog. He loved our children, and was happy to meet each of them when we brought them home as babies. He moved with us to Florida when we came in 2023, and spent his last months soaking up the sunshine here.
In February 2025, it was Freyja's turn to cross the rainbow bridge. Adopted by Hailey at 1 1/2, she quickly became a true velcro dog, as is often the case with Dobermans. While incredibly healthy for a Doberman, even once operating as a blood donor, Freyja had a taste for trouble (and inedible things), and had 2 separate abdominal blockages throughout her life, with a total of 3 abdominal surgeries. She spent her entire life with us being the annoying little sister to Rocket & Junior, before taking her turn at being a grumpy elder when Ursa joined the family. We said goodbye at a ripe old age of 11, after spending her last months in our new home in Vero Beach.
